iJET and shock control
Has anyone tried to use a iJet Remote Control or similar? Also does Ram make a mount that would isolate the IPOD so hardrive based ones won't lock up or skip. I was thinking about mounting the IPOD and mounting a remote to the handlebar. BTW, I have the BMW Comm system so I can hook the IPOD directly into it. Playing through the speakers is no big deal to me

John,
I use an iJet with the IPOD in the odments compartment. It works fine, but you cannot see the screen. I have never had any skipping issues.
I don't know of any RAM mounts that isolate vibration, but Cyclegadget.com has a few different options for iPODs.

Rider Response
Not being too happy with having to stow the Griffin Air Click each time it rained I have done a little (actually a lot) of research this afternoon on the new improved ABT iJet.
Although, it doesn't say in this ad, I spoke with a rep a couple of times today and he assured me this new remote is water resistant, just like the previous model. This one plugs into the bottom of our iPods and also has a pass through connector in order to connect chargers. The best new feature is that the buttons on this new model are bigger, more glove compatible than the previous model. $39.95 is its retail price and it is just now being released so it is not being shown available yet on many sites.
Now that is pretty cool, but check this out;
This puppy lets you view the song, artist, playlist on the REMOTE. WOW!. Unfortunately it is not water resistant. The rep said they could have made it water resistant, but they ran out of room inside the remote's case. I told him of the motorcycle community's interest in this type of remote and hoped that they would look into making a water resistant model in the future. The retail price will be $129. This remote won't be available until after June. Displaying the song, etc is so cool that I just might get this remote instead.

gray_red_rider,
Both look promising. I would tend to lean toward the one that is water resistant.
Do you know where either one of these might be purchased? Keep us posted. If you hear of some place that has 'em for sale PM me.
Thanks,
Mike

iJet remote for iPod
I've been using the iJet remote with my iPod almost every day for about a year with terrific results. While commuting through LA traffic for 30 miles I have found the device to work perfectly.
Went with the iJet because it had the best reviews and was more water resistant than other options. I mounted the remote to my rear view mirror stalk and can operate the remote with my thumb without moving my hand from the left grip.
The bad news is I lost the receiver portion (that mounts into the iPod itself) while cleaning out my 'Stich to get it washed. ABTech provided fantastic customer support and promptly shipped out a replacement for me. It's always refreshing to deal with a company that makes great products and backs them up.
They are coming out with new products soon,... worth a look if you are looking for nice hardware to compliment your iPod.

And no, I'm not associated with them in any way shape or form except as a satisfied rider who uses their product every day.
